Actually it was filmed in Czechoslovakia not Czech Republic. Czech Republic was created in 1991 following the break up of Czechoslovakia. The film was made in 1969 and it was in this year that a Soviet lead coalition of the Soviet Union, East Germany, Poland, Bulgaria and Hungary invaded Czechoslovakia to halt the Prague Spring political liberalization reforms. The film crew had to escape the country in taxis.

Natürlich weiß ich, dass es hier im Film um die Ludendorff-Brücke bei Ramagen geht! Aber zu Anfang wird die Sprengung der Oberkasseler Brücke gezeigt, nur eben nicht so spannend und unglaublich, wie es in Wirklichkeit ablief.
Nebenbei: Oberkassel Bridge steht sogar im gelben Introtext des Films!
Ich weiß, das ist hier youtube, aber genauer schauen und lesen lohnt sich doch manchmal.

hmmm ... also die brücke hier im film ... ist bei bonn - oberkassel... darum oberkasseler brücke. sie ist falsch! die brücke bei remagen hiess ludendorff brücke. das gelände im film kommt ja fast hin... obwohl brücke wieder falsch ist (bauart). lol

The attack on the Oberkasseler bridge was much smarter than depicted here. The Americans came by night, their tanks camouflaged as german tanks, the infantry moving like German soldiers on the retreat. On the first tanks they had German-speaking soldies to answer questions from Germans properly. The group reached Oberkassel unrecognized until they were discovered. They already had reached the ramp of the bridge when it was blown up. After that only the Uerdingen and Remagen bridge were intact.
