It is so strange that they are dancing with their back turned to the public during the whole dance! Otherwise, I like it

Ah! That looks like so much fun!

A dance with elements of acting is a common thing in Lithuanian folklore. A "gentleman" doesn't "drink" water... I suppose he "drinks" beer. This drink is popular from long ago, although abuse of It has never been considered appropriate. That is why other dancers are looking at him with a strong disaproval.

This is a modern interpretation of the folk dance. It might vary, but the high tempo and the main elements of "GALOPAS" have to be kept.

It looks like some good fun. Is there some significance to the gentleman running off stage to drink? and group shouting him down the second time?
Blessings for you dear friendĄ
Aloha from Ka`u

Betina, the name of this folk dance is "GALIOPAS". I think it's a dialecticism; should be "GALOPAS". In English it would be "a gallop" :-). It means the movement of a horse at its fastest speed, when all 4 feet come off the ground together :-).
Warm wishes from Lithuania!
