"When You're Smiling" is a song by Larry Shay, Mark Fisher, and Joe Goodwin, and made famous by Louis Armstrong, who recorded it at least three times, in 1929, 1932, and 1956. Duke Ellington also recorded it several times earlier in his career.
Many other recordings exist, for example Studies in Swing No.3 or Louis Prima. Cliff Bruner brought it to the country charts in 1939.
It was adopted by Leicester City F.C. as the club anthem, and can be heard at many of the team's games.
In 1961, Judy Garland performed the song at the Judy at Carnegie Hall concert.
Dean Martin also sang it, sometimes parodying it as "When You're Drinkin'".
When you're smilin'
When you're smilin'
The whole world smiles with you.
And when you're laughin'
When you're laughin'
The sun comes shinin' through.
When you're cryin',
You bring on the rain,
So, stop your sighin',
Won't you be happy again!
When you're smiling,
Keep on smilin'
And the whole world smiles with you.
Kregen jullie ook een broodje kroket na afloop? Groet Hein
