So I bit the bullet and bought this awesome lens. Check out the tests - and stay tuned for a detailed speed, focus, sharpness and bokeh comparison to the 85mm F1.4G and 70-200m F2.8 VRII.

  • good video!! you should try the sigma 50mm 1.4, I have one of those and is really sharp sharp sharp

  • @orthusnet thanks buddy - I have used it. Nice lens - and definitely sharp - however it is not in this league.

  • hey matt you should compare the 35 or 24 1.4G to these lenses.. you have alot of portrait primes but you should take a look at wide primes as well.. would be interesting to see what you think of the 35 1.4 :) but thanks to this video i will take a look at this lens as well :)

  • @GacusanAMVs I might compare the 35 to the 24, but not an easy comparison to a 105mm.

  • nice video! Did you consider at all the new 105mm f2.8 VR micro at all ? And if you did what was the main differenses that made you go for the 105 DC :) ?

  • @Patsesson Actually I didn't, I fell in love with this one :)

  • I own this lens and use it for my portraits. I didnt buy it for DC, I bought it for its sharpness and its focal length. Would it be fair to say that the DC control ONLY shifts the point of focus and thats all? Im still confused by the point of it and I use it all day.

  • @thatnikonguy ok.. looking forward to that review! :)

  • @Patsesson - I agree, the 105 VR Micro is also super-sharp, has excellent bokeh, practically zero vignetting and distortion, plus the advantage of VR, which is fantastic when shooting hand held in relatively low light.

  • @thatnikonguy wooww, then that lens is amazingly sharp, do you know if there's something like this for canon?

  • Coming from you, I consider you as authority, it sure sound good. May I ask how much did you pay for it and can I also use it on the D7000 or just on the D700?

    Thanks,

  • @zonegrafix I don't know the canon range well - but they do make some great lenses - maybe another viewer can suggest?
