We just came back from volunteering for the 2009 Illumination with all the cold and snow. This video hits the mark on the meaning of the Illumination and how personally emotional each luminary becomes. I cannot imagine not returning each year to be part of this.

Thank you for you efforts on behalf of making this event possible. The illumination depends upon the energy of one generation of volunteers to commemorate an earlier generation of volunteers. I like that symmetry.

Best wishes,

Mannie

Thanks for sharing this. I have been to the illumination many times, I live in Hagerstown. Each time I feel that sense of being on sacred ground and once again the totality of the sacrifice of that day is made real to me again.
I look forward to going next year.

The park couldn't do it without the Volunteers. Thanks for all of your hard work, and for putting up with the cold weather.

See you next year!

This is beautiful! Thank you,Mannie for our tour of the battlefield--your skill in teaching the details of the battle to a large group is awe-inspiring! Your devotion to the soldiers' stories makes me weep.
