Electric Arcs from a LCD monitor's CCFL inverter board. Produces a hot arc that i think is a few thousand volts, I have no way of measuring it. im trying to figure out how to make the inverter board stay on for more than a few seconds without modifying it.

  • Do u know the voltage?

  • @zangarkhan Well, Im guessing 4-5kv

  • What type of driver board did you use? I can only get 2 mm sparks out of mine.

  • @GrandpaTD The one in this video i took out of an Lcd monitor. im pretty sure it was a small ish BenQ senseye or something.... The board had two outputs and each was powering about 60cm of tube. It's quite common to get tiny arcs out of the smaller ones...

  • At school my professor have say, 1mm arc by 1000V also 10 000 V make 1cm arc.

But this is for approaching the contact not open.

If you have other information about that thanks to say that to me.

My english is not good, i don't have learn english. sorry for wrong sense.

  • Cool... nice plasma arc. That's what is happening inside a CCFL , a high voltage alternating current strikes a plasma arc across an inert gas to produce light. This current is usually in the range of around 700 to 1400 or higher Volts AC.

  • Finger Toaster 1.0 :D #LOL

    nice

  • @MrGerbilBrain

I later found out that the open circuit voltage of the transformers i wasn't using caused an insulation breakdown which lead to an arc-over, killing the power supply. i recommend heatsinks too :)

  • @juniortore1 Great i can't wait to see it :)
