  • Was lucky beyond belief to get free tickets to this show....

The only word to describe the effect it had on us is 'transformative'

On the way home from the show, we turned on the radio and quickly turned it off... it all sounded dull and ordinary compared to what we just experienced. In fact, we did not listen to any other music for a few days after.

    Thank you Alice.

  • The fact that he does not simply emulate his father is a testament to his musicianship, let alone his understanding of his father's music.

Ravi has his own sound, a lovely tone, and a releaxed rhythmic conception.

He is still growing, like most of us, but he has accomplished a lot, and I find the dimissive comments willfully petty and trite and uninformed about the process of becoming a creative musician.

  • one thing i know now for sure,,these wonderful people are my proof of God's great grace,,,how infinitely privliged we are, fussin around with all these wars and such foolishness

  • That initial call... still so immense.

  • fuck that sounds soooo awesome. jealous

  • I was blesses to hear them play with Ravi Shankar, and Pharoah Sanders at a John Coltrane memorial concert at UCLA's Royce Hall in the early '90s. Fantastic!

  • Thank you for posting this. I was lucky enough to attend this concert, which unfortunately was Alice Coltrane's final concert. If someone has a decent recording of the concert, please release it, since it was a magical night . I will never forget when Ravi introduced the band before the break, and when he got to Alice, he said "the most influential person in my life, my mother, Alice Coltrane" The crowd at the Masonic Temple instantly stood and roared. We all were in tears.

  • magical.

  • what?!! ravi does his thing......
