Jon Nakamatsu, gold medalist of the 1997 Van Cliburn, performs Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the San Jose Youth Symphony at the California Theater on June 1, 2008. He also played an encore of Mendelssohn's Rondo Capriccioso. In case you can't see because of the dark, there was a standing ovation (which led to the encore).
btw, this is not me. (i wish it was. lol)
Yes, you can tell he likes working with youth. A great musician and a good role model ;-)

My son played in the Peninsula Youth Orchestra. They went on a European tour with John Nakamatsu. Everyone enjoyed meeting him because despite the fact that he is this fantastic musician, he is very humble and socialized with everyone. He is an avid supporter of youth orchestras.

oooh! thanks so much for posting this. I saw him play the Grieg Concerto in Annapolis a few months back. A little guy with a great sound! And very humble to meet him afterwards. This looks like it was an awesome concert.
