I heard the Cheap Trick version before this one (Via 70's show) and thought it was a great song, but once I heard this version the Cheap Trick version seemed way too.. like "Hey let's take take this sweet song, instead of three guitars we'll use one with distortion." They took the arty intricacy out of it. Anyone could have made that cover, but only Big Star could have written it the way they did.

i like the theme more but they just sound like chikmunks!!!!!!! in the the show thay sound AWESOME!

@Salguine but why not use the original? big star's SOUND is a time capsule to the 1970's, not their songs. it'd have been just overall more authentic than to have cheap trick (a band that was about half Big Stars inferior in their peek, not to mention the 90s) do a Matchbox 20 version of this classic.

big star originally did it in the 70s, then Cheap trick covered it in 2000 for the second season onward of that 70s show
