I was at this unique performance of Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" by Groove Apparatus. This is the final movement of the work in which the band incorporates Trane's poem from the liner notes of the record into the performance. It is intensely powerful and moving. To my knowledge, no one has ever done this before. Actor/director James Avidon does a masterful job reciting Trane's poem. Although off camera, he read from the church's pulpit just to the side of the band.
Scott Robert Avidon(sax)
Bob Himmelberger(piano)
Steve Swanson(bass)
Edward Taylor(drums)

Wow! I never had access to the liner notes before. This sounds like the way to present them with the music as a whole. Inspired and inspiring!

Wonderful, and very nicely arranged. One of the most sacred moments in history, and truely timeless.
