  • @bigredmachine89 I know much of my post is wrong . . I wrote Ellis Island when in fact it's Liberty Island

My point was that I don't perceive the French as cowardly, it's easy to judge a situation from the ouside, thousands of miles away, 72 years later. Back then, no military outside of Germany had any idea what a Blitzkrieg was capable of, and therefore did not prepare to defend accordingly. Just as the US didn't prepare enough to defend against 9/11. It was just a new type of attack.

  • @macdaddylorenzo France was not a Republic yet as their revolution was still about twenty years away. The French still had a Monarch just like the British did, and his name was Louis XVI...oops. And while on the subject, the Germans in WWII used the exact same route through Belgium and into France as they did in WWI; execpt in WWII the Germans invaded Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg before attacking France, thus giving them (and Britain) ample time to prepare.

  • @macdaddylorenzo very good point

  • @macdaddylorenzo yeah because the French responded to June 1940 by bombing the fuck out and invading the neighbors of Afg--wait a minute...

  • @macdaddylorenzo Yes, but when the world needed all of its allies to stand strong in the face of a seemingly invincible force, the French buckled over like a well-trained slut and allowed the Germans to plug their pencil-pricks up their very familiar croissant holes.

Btw, All in the Family is a comedic television program. So chill with the third-grade history lessons and let's just have a nice laugh.

  • french fries and poutine please. other than that no damned good to me

  • @macdaddylorenzo

Yes, but you have to appreciate that this is just a joke on a COMEDY show. There's no need to get defensive. We're all aware of the services and sacrifices that various nations have made for one another.

  • the meathead, reiner, turned out to be a REAL meathead.

  • @antipryzm Well noted re: monarchy, thanks for the correction.

  • @honestman43 You're right, I know. Someone else corrected me on that a few months ago, but thanks anyway. I'd always mistakenly thought it was Ellis Island.
