@bjk031 umm beg to differ im running a Cavalier 2000 2.2 SFI OHV with Penzoil and Shell gas and can in Drive from 60 to 90 in about 2.5 seconds much faster than i used to when just using QT gas haha. And beats my friends Same Engine.

@bjk031 yeah, theres not much power in the 2.2's but they do last forever it seems, i have a 94 2.2 with 343,000 miles.

@bjk031 they are dogs but they sure do last. my 91 now has 172K on it. only replaced head gasket. it was a fairly cheap and easy job

@ad356 idk much about 2.2s but i got almost 160 k on my 98 z24 2.4 and just starting to have a coolant leak not sure if its water pump or therm housing or what but this is the only problem ive had besides replacing a starter. ive heard horror stories about the 2.4 tho

oh, dude my car did the EXACT same thing. its either oxygen sensor, or some other throttle sensor. it isnt a vacuum leak. is that a 96 Z24? looks like it

not that anyone seems to read my comments, but the car is and has been running fine for the past year and a half since i replaced the engine harness. i never did find out exactly what the problem was, but its all better now. engine is still as peppy as ever and, since its a drop top, im still using it as a DD and have put probably 20k or more on it since this was originally posted. w00t!

i dont care much for the 2.4 but the 2.2L is a damn fine little power plant. they run forever. i have 140K+ on a 91 2.2 and 104K on a 98 2.2 they both run great.

admittedly the older 2.2/2200s will run forever, but calling them a "power" plant is funny IMO. those things are dogs. now the 2.2 ecos, on the other hand......

I should mention that this has been fixed. I swapped in an ECU and wiring harness from a 97z. Runs like a top now!
