I demonstrate some of the features of the Yaesu VX-170 amateur radio. The Yaesu VX-270R is now out, and I'm sure it operates much the same way.

If you want me to show more, comment with your request. (Please rate 5 stars if this is informative or helpful.) I also have a Yaesu FT-2800M I'll show you soon.

73's!

  • do u think i can use this as a APRS tracker...i mean is opentracker or tinytrak3/4 compatible with this?

  • @XXwikkiXX I use a TinyTrak3 with mine. I'm sure the TinyTrak4 or opentracker would work just fine too.

  • Whats that "simplex USA frequency"? is it like GMRS? can anyone use it? thanks

  • @DJSamLev Simplex means direct radio-to-radio use; repeaters are not used. 146.520 Mhz is recognized as the USA standard calling freq for 2 meter radio, however there are also other freq's. Any licensed amateur radio operator can use it. Hope this helps.

  • Saw your demonstration page and it was somewhat helpful. I need to understand how to program in the frequency (which I now know thanks to your video) then what steps to program in the tone and transmit frequencies. You do mention some of this briefly in the video but not enough demonstrated for me to be able to get it right. Thanks.

  • @kelster5312 hi, sorry. I've kinda been neglecting this channel.

First, make sure you're in VFO.

Go to the freq you want. hit "F" then "1 (SGTYP)". Select "TONE" and hit "F" again.

Then hit "F" then "2 (CODE)". Select the pl code in HZ. Hit "F" again & you should be done.

You can now save to memory. Hope this helps.

  • @NFSfan38 Thanks. Where might a find a list of these frequencies?

  • @reefmaster ]hi, sorry. I've kinda been neglecting this channel. I'm not sure. It sounds like you did it right, but you might've missed one of those steps on accident. Could you put a video up showing me what you did?

  • @NFSfan38 Hey, my friend, I must thank you a lot for the information! Now I got the real point about its modulation. Thanks so much and sorry for horrible English...

  • @NFSfan38 if your communicating on ham/ amauter freqs.
