The 2011 Space Coast Marathon held its pre race Expo at the Kennedy Space Center. While there, we were able to witness the launching of the new Mars Science Laboratory Rover! The Rover itself is as large as a Hummer and is nuclear powered as apposed to the solar powered Rovers of the past. Having followed the Rover projects for years, it was a real thrill to witness the launch of the next phase of Mars exploration.
Let's not forget I was in Florida to run the Space Coast Marathon! The Expo was fantastic with cool new products, t-shirts, jewelry, famous stars from the running world and the space world, and not to mention we were in the JFK Space Center.
Come with me in this first video as we witness the launch, pick up my race packet, and visit the Expo.
Tune in to the next video where we have dinner in the Apollo/ Saturn V Center under an actual Saturn V rocket!
