After all, the punishment has to fit the crime, and for those who commit violent crimes they more than deserve an almost violent experience in prison, w/o dying that is. Death is a blessing to someone who suffers greatly and that blessing cannot and should not be extended to violent criminals, period.

Cost doesn't sway some people's support for the death penalty b/c for them, it's really about retribution not justice. I took a philosophy class titled contemporary moral problems and we covered a range of topics including the death penalty and surprisingly every point you brought up against death penalty were used by the author of the article supporting your view. To me, the death penalty is simply an easy way out for the criminal. I vote they should suffer inhumanely w/ life imprisonment.

@texdog33 The death penalty may not have stopped this from occuring either. You see the problem is if he was able to escape from prison, then he would of done it regardless. It shows the prison is to blame for not having security in place. If they had of been more secure those three people would still be alive. It's the incompetence of the prison that caused him to escape.

@rickfayette Its never that simple. Some evidence may not be allowed in a trial that could potentially prove a person's innocence. Due to issues with DNA contamination and things of that nature, for someone to be found guilty of murder there is alot of acting that needs to be done in a court room. The death penelty is too risky to put in place. Especially when there is a possibility that a person is innocent. Jail for life, no perks, no parole, no excuses

someone found a death penalty that was humane but they died in a high so the people who wanted death penalty didnt think it was a good idea

The death penalty isn't expensive, political and judicial red tape makes it expensive.

@rickfayette Obviously you haven't watched Prison Break.

@texdog33 Hm... Can you elaborate?

Everyone needs to stop fighting over whether the death penalty is wrong or not and start fighting for a better judicial system. It is so messed up and corrupt right now. If we fix the damn judicial system then the innocent people wont be put to death.

I use to be against the death penalty! That is until a man who had his death penalty sentence overturned and then borke out of the Huntsville Prison in Texas in 2008. He then killed my cousin and two other people a few months later. If he would had been put to death when he should have been, then three people would be alive and their families would not be suffering. You just CAN'T change some people. I agree with not putting innocent people to death.
When anyone pleads GUILTY and receives the DEATH PENALTY execution needs to be carried out immediately THAT DAY. Forensic science today should easily weed out the innocent. 20 years ago is another story.
