Taiwan's Minister without Portfolio Ovid Tseng was appealing to the conscience of a taekwondo referee to change his dicision, but his appeal would fall on deaf ears.

A men's taekwondo final at the East Asian Games on Monday ended after only 17 seconds when Taiwan's Tseng Ching-hsiang was knocked out by South Korea's Song Jihoon. A video replay showed that Song had punched Tseng in the neck, a violation of taekwondo rules that should have earned the South Korean a disqualification. But judges awarded the bout to Song, angering the Taiwanese official.

Because of the controversial nature of the bout, the Game's nine-member Arbitration Committee for the taekwondo event met to decide the winner. But when the committee's South Korean convener announced the verdict, it wasn't only Tseng who was furious.

The South Korean official not only refused to give his nature, but also yelled at Taiwan's delegation that he was willing to guarantee the decision with his life.

The ugly incident was just the latest in a sport that has been plagued by controversy in the past. Once again, taekwondo's impartiality has come ture under question , and pictures of Taiwan's taekeondo athlete in the hospital won't help clear the sport of suspicions that its judges are biased.

  • Yet another example which 100% re-confirms that TAIWAN LOVES FABRICATING the facts like their 'holy master' Japan that dominates their lowly existence. -laugh- Even that CNA report is totally biased Taiwan media, what do you expect? haha.

  • shut up Chinese you guys are gay

  • it is clear that it's the hit from the neck that knocked him out... and how the hell that the judges gave the game to the korean guy?

he don''t even kicked, he just deliver a punch... to the neck...

it was indeed a violation and still he won the match?

    what actually happened there?

  • @greyfoxau Now this is something I don't agree with. Wishing a tsunami and the deaths of countless innocent lives is about as low as you can go. It's disturbing and disgusting. Are you from Australia? Because that shits uncalled for, and it's an absolute disgrace. Nobody deserves a tsunami, period.

  • Korean are racists, they just want to hit the Chinese player not because for gold medal but for korean super ethnic!!!!

  • The Tsunami should of hit Korea not japan. (kidding) But you can clearly see that it was in the neck (illegal) and also the medical report and pictures from the hospital.

  • The Tsunami should of hit Korea not japan.

  • @dokkiro sorry, but i guarantee u we will be THERE ~ lol, it's more likely your TKD will be gone~ lol. and i feel sad for those pathetic koreans~ who cheated, and lost all types of battles, games, sports, technologies and cultures~ mocking our political status quo is the only thing kimchies got left, cause they are so inferior, got nothing to talk about, and it's not gonna change olympic committees mind about your sad TKD lol

  • @TheStylomastoid Please give it up. Taiwanese or Chinese Taipei won't be allowed to compete in future Olympics for this reason. They will create such a fuss over decisions made by officials. Nobody wants to hear your BS anymore especially the host countries.
