My cat Roy passed away early this morning, sometime around 12am-2:30am. We got him in the fall of 1996, the day after Thanksgiving, and the animal shelter said he was about 6 weeks old at the time. We raised him as an indoor cat for 13 years. A few months ago, I noticed he was slowing down very much and sleeping a lot, but he still loved to eat. In late April of 2010, Roy stopped eating his kibbles, and then I recalled the doctor telling me last year "When his appetite changes, that's when you start to worry." About a week ago, Roy stopped eating any turkey, chicken or fish, several foods he loved very much, and only drank his water. We continued to put those foods out for him but he only smelled them and walked away. We took him to the vet and they noticed a kidney infection and a few days later, found out he had cancer and was deteriorating. We made him comfortable for a week and he passed away this morning, April 30th, 2010. We are going to miss him very much.

The 2nd last picture of Roy all wet int he hallway is the exact place where he died. The same position, too, just inside the door on the orange floor in the laundry room. Roy died with a smile on his face. Wherever he is, I know he must be very happy.

I know a lot of you tubers out there loved Roy.

  • I absolutely love your dedication video to Roy. I am a huge cat lover. Have owned many in my lifetime. It is never easy to say goodbye or watch them suffer in any way. But watching great videos like this helps many of us cope and realize that we are all in the same boat. And as the great late comedian George Carlin once said......when you get a small pet of any kind? You are purchasing a small tragedy....knowing that at some point they are going to pass away. So true. Roy was a handsome Cat.

  • what a beautiful kitty he was....and this video shows how loved he was....what a lucky little boy !! i lost a kitty too, and it is heart breaking !! they really do become a member of your family, and it's so emotionally devastating when they leave us.

  • This is so sad ;'( Sorry to hear about Roy He is so cute R.I.P <3

  • I lost my best friend Julius last week. looks almost exactly like Roy, I miss my big kitty as I am sure you miss Roy, God bless.

  • He was loved, he was happy. What a testament to love. Beautiful vid.

  • Exactly a year since he died today.

  • Nice video. My family had a cat named 'Icky' that we have for over 20 years. Though we were sad of his departure (we had to put him down) we took solace that we offered him a great and luxirious life and that he enjoyed himself which all you can do, you know. I'm sure your cat experienced the same and now he's just waiting for you to get up to him.

  • So sorry to see that you lost your friend

    RIP
