Have you ever had your smartphone ring or vibrate while biking, running, skiing or just bundled underneath a mountain of clothing? Chances are getting to your phone is either a nuisance, is dangerous or both; however, you fumble for it anyway because you don't want to miss the incoming call or message. Allerta's inPulse watch is designed to solve this problem.

"I came up with the idea while I was biking...in the Netherlands," explains Eric Migicovski, founder and CEO of Allerta. "I always felt like 'why is my cell phone vibrating in my pocket?' I wanted to just be able to look down at my wrist and see who was calling me or emailing me, so I wouldn't have to pull out my phone and drop it into a canal."

The full color screen on the inPulse allows you to see email, calendar alerts, Twitter messages, and other information right on your wrist without having to remove your phone from your pocket or purse. You can also use it to control iTunes and even a PowerPoint presentation. A single button on the side of the device provides all the control, enabling you to interact with the watch without looking at it.

The inPulse works on your smartphone—Android, Blackberry or jailbroken iPhone—or on your PC — Mac OS X, Windows, Ubuntu. "The cool thing about wearing a watch that's interactive like this is that [the watch] is in the front of your mind--you see it on a regular basis," says Migicovski. "When your watch vibrates, you feel it. It's not like a cell phone where you might miss the call."

  • Also how could a be a beta tester... Because I would like to see this product become a success.

  • I would like to see this work on iPhone with out having to jailbreak... Apple updates there firmware all the time and i would be disappointed to $150 and this not work on a latter firmware... Besides the point it's a great idea. And I'm hoping to pick one up soon. I'm a big watch fan and a bit of a tech nerd. Stuff like this really gets my attention.
