Two new railroad bridges in Napa, Calif., officially opened in a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 22, 2011. The new bridges replace a lower adjacent railroad bridge that blocked the Napa River in high water, often causing flooding in downtown Napa. The project is part of the larger Napa River-Creek Flood Protection Project, a joint effort of the Corps, the city of Napa, and the Napa Flood Control and Water Conservation District to reduce flood risk for the city.
