Skyscraper.Part 8

..."Go run,run,run...I'm gonna stay right here...watch you disappear..."

Joe had packed a little picnic for us to eat while we sat in the park. It was quiet and peaceful.It was just me and him,like old times.I had told Nick this morning that I was going out with Joe and he seemed a little hesitant but said he was fine with it.I know he's scared that I'd come back being in love with Joe,but that won't happen...I think.Don't get me wrong,I like Nick,I really like him,but Joe and I just have this attraction towards each other.

-Joe-
I picked a nice little spot under a tree and we sat down.our hands brushed occasionally as we unpacked the picnic basket I brought.
"So," I said, "you're recording a new CD,aren't you?"
She nodded, "Yeah,I'm still in the process of writing some songs."
"How many do you have?"
"Four."
"Oh yeah? When can I hear them?"
She laughed,"When I feel confident enough for you to listen to them."
I chuckled,"Has Nick heard any of them yet?"
She shook her head,"Nah.I was just gonna wait until the release party to have him listen."
"Why wait so long?"
"I don't know.I mean,I'd love for him to listen,but I get nervous when he does because he's such a great songwriter."
"You are,too.You know,Nick could help with the songwriting."
"Yeah,but I don't know." she played with her fingers.
I smiled,"I could help...if you wanted me to."
She smiled back,"Yeah,I'd like that."

-Demi-
Since Joe offered to help,I thought I'd take it.Even though a couple of my songs are about him,I still want his opinion.After we finished eating,he stood up and held his hand out.I took it and I felt my fingertips tingle as he pulled me up from the ground.I smiled at him and looked away,hoping to hide the blush that crept up on my cheeks.He cleared his throat and took a small step away from me,stuffing his hands into his pockets.I pushed his shoulder playfully,"It's not a sin to touch me,you know," I joked.
He laughed,"I know," he scratched the back of his head and I pushed his shoulder again. "Come,on,quit pushing," he whined.
So I did it again,"Why? What are you gonna do?"
"I'll get you back,Lovato,you better count on it."
I laughed and ran away from him.I could hear him chuckle as he ran after me.

-Joe-
Man,Demi was a lot faster than I thought she'd be.
"Come on,Joe!" she shouted,laughing.
I finally caught up to her,grabbing her waist and spinning her around.She screamed as we both fell on the grass.She sighed,"I could beat you in a race,if I wanted to."
"I'm sure you could," I laughed.
"But I don't wanna embarrass the great Joe Jonas."
"Pft,you? Embarrass me? I'd wipe the floor with you."
She laughed,"Looking forward to it," she challenged.

-Demi-
I was looking into Joe's eyes.I pushed myself of the ground laughed nervously,"So,um,should we head back?"
He nodded,stood up,and helped me up.He picked up the basket and we started walking to his car.
Back at the hotel,I walked into my room and Nick was sitting on the bed.I jumped,"Hey."
He looked at me,"Hey.How was your day with Joe?"
"Fine.Why?"
He shrugged,"Oh,I don't know.Maybe because I turned on the news and saw this."
He turned on the tv and a picture of me and Joe popped up on the screen.It was of us laying in the grass together.The headline read,"Is Demi Lovato jumping between the two brothers?"
I looked at Nick and said,"It's not what you think."
He was calm,"We said that to Joe about three months ago and look what happened.It was exactly what he thought."
"I know it looks bad,but we were just messing around."
"Yeah,I can see that." He stood up and walked towards the door.
"Wait!" I said,"What does this mean?"
He opened the door,"I'm not sure,Dems.Maybe we both need some time to think.I'll call you later or something." He walked out.
I groaned and threw myself on the bed.Could this get any worse?
