Actually I have a theory that i discused in my Abnormal Phsyc class about this...

What if you REALLY have nothing left to live for? what if suicide is the only solution to numb your pain? It's like morphine. Why deny yourself that help if you really need it? That's what separates the clinally depressed from the posers.

I think it's a mechanism really.
