  • why no Bari solo on a Gerry Mulligan piece!?!?

  • The students chose what they were going to blow on. Not every Gerry Mulligan piece we did had a Bari solo ;-)

  • awesome arrangement. do you have the video for venus de milo by any chance?

  • Sure. The entire concert is available on DVD. Every song from the album. Just email me about getting you a copy.

  • Nailed it! Great job

  • and doing the solo without a piano!

  • This is really smooth, really dig! the trumpet is sharp, still sounds good.

  • Nice sound! A successful tribute to "The Birth Of The Cool". Keep up the good work!

  • ahh...what a relief not to hear another HS band fail a great jazz arrangement...well done...probably saved my life.

  • YEAH MAN! this is so sweet. the trumpet is so cool! this is really cool. it would be an honour to me to play this song. great job!

  • This is spectacular; high school musicians and that they are listening to each other! "Playing In Tune" !

    Drummer, bassist, soloist.......in sync!

  • I was wondering the same thing. The original piece is one that definitely did feature a bari solo by Mulligan, so it seems strange to not let the Bari player take it. But since it appears you were performing the entire album maybe there was a need to spread the solos around. Anyway, he did a great job and the band sounds terrific

  • diggin the trumpets tone

  • Beautiful to hear this in such an intimate surrounding. Nice sax solo, too.
