  • Lovely aqarium. What kind of plants do you have? How do you maintain your substrate? What kind of sand is that for substrate?

  • The plants are amazon swords, hair grass, cabomba, dwarf hair grass, java fern, and a few others. The sand is just plain old playground sand from wal-mart, $4 for about 40lbs, a light gravel vacuum on the surface keeps it pretty clean, and all of my catfish clean up the rest of it.

  • I have read that play sand will tear up hang on filters. What kind of filters are you using?

  • I use a sump with several different grades of substrate as a filter, and carbon in it, I start with course gravel, then regular gravel, then sand, and it gets rid of most debris.

This grains in this sand are heavy enough to settle instantly though, so I don't think there is much of a chance it gets into my pump.

  • you can just make them yourself. Just buy a 2 piece of glass(one to cover and one for the lid) and have someone cut them. Put a handle to the lid and that's it. You should leave a space on the back for the equipments.

  • Hey how are ya great tank man, I was curiose about your lighting situation? did u purchase your cover at a pet store or was it home made? because i am getting a free 90 Gallon Fish tank and it has no top for it Thx.!

  • that M. boesemani needs more friends of his type, like about 5 more. You could easily fit 5 more and he would be much happier.

  • What is a sump? I was going a mix with carbon in the filter, but read that carbon is not good for the plants. How old are your plants.
