Leoš Janáček - In the Mists (1 of 2)

"In the Mists" was created in 1912, during the time when Janáček was suffering from the death of his daughter Olga. In addition, his operas were being rejected by the Prague opera houses. All the four parts of the cycle are anchored in "misty" keys with five or six flats; characteristic for the cycle are the frequent changes of meter. The atmosphere of the cycle is often called as impressionist, with the influence of Claude Debussy. The premiere took place on December 7, 1913, when Marie Dvořáková played it at a concert organized by the choral society Moravan in the Moravian town of Kroměříž.

one of my unaired favorites of many years standing. Ever since "Crown Court" I've loved Janacek.This still reminds me of buying the CD on a special misty autumnal visit to Praha, delicious stuff.

As an avid Janacek opera fan this is the first time ( to my shame) i have heard In the Mists. It's so beautiful .Why isnt is heard more often?
