The Feast of St George in Qormi is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of June.

Qormi is one of the largest towns in Malta while the parish of St George is one of the eldest parishes in Malta. The present Church was built in 1684 and the statue of St George was carved in wood by Pietro Felici in 1739.

The parish has two Band Clubs: St George Band Club and Anici Band Club. There are other clubs run by volunteers like the Fireworks team and those who are involved in decorating the streets around the parish. These people make the feast possible.

The two hymns you hear are the "Innu March" - "Gorgi Taghna", music by Archibald Mizzi and lyrics by Fr Paul Genovese. The second one is the popular and traditional hymn: "Fjur tal-Martri".

Photos taken by Choy Hong (Jasmine) Grech except for two of them which are noted.

  • @Rhawneld57 Thanks Ron. Glad that you enjoyed this video too. Agreeing with you that different languages are always interesting. When I speak Mandarin, friends and relatives here who had never heard it before gave me a sheepish smiles :))

    Merry Christmas,

    Jasmine & Alfred
