Answer: MSN Messenger is used to create the connection. Otherwise port 3389 (Terminal Serices port) will need to be forwarded.

I'm assuming you don't need to open ports, because Remote Assistance uses Microsoft's server for NAT Traversal (essentially, a middleman for establishing the connection)?

haha, it's like ur teachers read that comment, lol

lol, ok. I was pointing out to most of the folks that live in civilization, wasn't a knock on your video. You just should have made a lil footnote that the ip address applies if you are in the "rural" areas. *smirks*
It's ok, kid. You did a good job. :-)

If the person helping is running XP and the person getting helped is running Vista, you cannot use Remote Assistance unfortunately. Unless there has been some sort of patch to it during Service Pack 2, this still holds true.
If the person helping is running Vista, and the person getting helped is running XP, you can use it.

i said the same thing
Just to clarify a point a 3:38, you choose either to use the invitation OR you put in their IP address. To use the IP option, you must be on the same domain or network, such as in a company or a home network. Other than that, very good video. Thanks for putting it up.

Yes, but when you live in North Dakota and people are dumb and have no routers.. the IP address will work fine because they are on a public IP not behind a router.. so yes my example works..
