The US or any other western country assisting this in anyway or lending loud vocal support for the protesters/revolutionaries would be a huge mistake. A large part of the Iranian government's argument is that this movement was created by the West with sinister ulterior motives and is therefore illegitimate. Western support for it would just strengthen their claims.

@mcv47: WTF do you mean? What responsibility is it of the US gov't or people to bail other countries out, when they've put their own selves in the mess they're in today (islamic revolution, anybody?). I'm glad the persians are finally seeing past the brainwashing & reacting against their joke of a government, and I hope Ahmadinejjad gets his smirk wiped off his face with a baseball bat some day, but I'm tired of people blaming the US, whether for intervening or NOT, as if US=world Red Cross.
