you seem really well experienced good video. i have a xda exec with openmoko running on it from a self extracting wm5 cab file. If i disable wifi the touch screen works but if i enable wifi it does not. why does this happen do you know please? is there a command to force the touchscreen back on?

Question:
Are you really running ubuntu 8.04 or are you just running a fullscreen remote desktop?
Reason I ask.. The mouse and screen refresh when scrolling the browser are horrible. I tend to notice this when using remote desktop.
Then again, it just could be incorrect xserver settings/driver issues.
Which is it? ;)

LOL, this is native ubuntu running on the shift. I wrote the touchscreen driver for it, and this was an early version which had some problems. Newer versions of the driver work much better, see my video response (htcpen-0.3).
The htcpen linux driver is currently at 1.0.
