Our patient cat gets a bath. I watched a few videos of people bathing their cats and had to add mine. A relaxed attitude helps. Also, do not spray their faces. This is a great example of why you should bathe your cat starting at an early age. If you get them used to it, it's no big deal. I use a gentle shampoo made specifically for cats. This is an indoor-only cat and monthly baths keep him looking like a show cat.

  • what water temp. did u use? my dad and I, are fixing to try and give our almost 14 pound himalayan a bath this weekend.

  • @HumorISHOT25 I use just slightly warm water to try to make him comfortable. Try to stay relaxed and not get kitty excited by you being nervous. Scruffing the kitty can also be helpful if they start squirming. Good luck.

  • My cat is around a year or something, is it too late to bath him? He is the first cat I have ever had so I'm not that good with them yet. I bathed him once and he was so scared, and then he started to cry louder then I have ever heard him cry. I also bathed him another time today and he cried really loud.

  • I don't think you're too late. Just be gentle, make sure to keep water off his head, speak softly to try and comfort him, and keep it short to start with. Also, you might want to wait before trying the blowdryer (and then introduce it very slowly). It should get better with time. Reading some comment here, your experience doesn't sound nearly as bad as some. Good luck.

  • how young should we start bathing them i have 8 week old himalayan kitten.

  • We started getting our Ragdoll used to water and being bathed when we got him at 12 weeks old. Take slow baby steps and be sure to keep the water out of their face. Good luck and congratulations.

  • ahhh...that video was sooo sweet. you are such a kind person! and your cat is great! so many other people on here are splashing their cats and screaming at them and throwing water in their faces! it is horrible to watch, but your video was really cool and pleasant. it looked like jangles really loved bathtime! :)

  • What a beautiful example of what is possible when animals are treated with respect, kindness and compassion! Thanks Jangles and Dad for being the perfect example of how we can all be in the world with our beloved animal friends. I intend that such love and respect become the norm.

  • My Himalayan cat (see newest video of mine) is a lovable, playful cat. We got her from a family member not too long ago and haven't attempted to give her a bath. We gently spray water on her while brushing her to get out tangles. Any tips on getting out tangles easily?

  • ok, cool thanks for the tips. I wouldnt be nervous, it'd be more like agervation. coco tolerates the spray bath that I would give him or the foam shampoo bath, but ya..lol. my other cat, QT. she's a ..... LOL! I tryed giving her an actual bath and she freaked out on me. scratched the hell outta me and my dad. she's got scabs all over her back and neck, where she wont stop scratching. I give her a spray bath. the foam stuff makes her sick. she doesnt like baths period. she hisses at me.

  • @jenn398726 himmy's can go for $800 or more.

  • @X10LUG lol,I know exactly what your talking about. Watched my friend give a fully grown cat his first bath.

Yeah. She got 24 stitches under her eyes. Me? I was laughing in guilty pleasure.

Why? Because she said that next time she gives that cat a bath, shes tossing him in the toilet, closing the lid,and flushing repeatedly. (It was a joke, don't even bother cat abuse people.)

  • omg ur cat is so paitient! and so sweet! im surprised he didnt try to jump out much. our cat hates bathes, but is still the best kitty in the world!

  • That was amazing to watch! You are so good with your cat!

  • What a sweet, patient cat - right down to blowdrying, wow! My cat would never let me do that! I loved the little leg kick at the end - so cute! And, gorgeous cat!
