Express bus driver caught watching video

Only recently the nation was shocked with yet another express bus tragedy that claimed lives of 10 passengers because of the driver's alleged recklessness.

This time a passenger video-taped an incident that could have caused a similar outcome.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, the passenger who requested anonymity said he caught on his cellphone camera, the bus driver of the double-decker Mutiara Ekspress he was travelling in, allegedly watching a dangdut music video while driving on the East-Coast Highway from Kuala Terengganu to Kuala Lumpur in the early morning of Dec 26.

He claimed that the packed bus was going at 97km per hour - well over the bus speed limit of 90km per hour - after passing the Kuantan exit.

@dcsteal my point exactly! It's so common nowadays.. you know that it could be done, and so do I. but despite this, if you read the reply by the Mutiara at M'siakini, they claimed that it cannot be done- to quote them "impossible".

How patronizing! Please read theresponse from Mutiara-- it'll piss you off even more!

Hmm, actually, bende camni kan standard... cuba bayangkan kalo diorg x dgr lagu or pasang video...diorg bley jd boring, then ngantuk, then lagi la bahaya penumpang kan...so for me, it's okay if all drivers disturb our sleep with loud music or video, asalkan the drivers x ngantuk...kite pon safely smpai destinasi yg dituju...

if this is singapore, the bus company is long gone. in malaysia, does the administration of the country really bothers? they are too busy with projects that can make money. who cares about the people lives.

I agree coz the companies are only thinking from a profit point of view! Sad but true in Msia. And worse part action taken only when passengers die! no preventive measures is initiated or rather lamely executed!

syarikat bas mesti bayar gaji lebih untuk pemandu bas. Sekarang, demand untuk public transport memang besar, jika kerajaan betulkan sistem bas seluruh negara sudah tentu boleh buat duit. Ini perlu untuk efficiency. Sistem LRT harus diganti dengan MRT yang lebih muatan. Sistem keretapi laju seperti di China sangat mahal, namun ada route sangat profitable, jadi tak mustahil
