A demonstration of the making of scotch eggs.

A lot of the other videos on YouTube are making a similar dish but baking instead of deep-frying and calling it "Scotch Eggs".

Well, screw all that. Scotch eggs are deep-fried.

  • You may need to fry them 6-7 minutes if the sausage is still very cold from the fridge, or if it is applied thickly to the egg. I should have mentioned that I did let the sausage rise towards room temp for maybe 30 minutes before starting, so as not to have to overly-brown the crust during cooking.

  • wha?....I've never heard of a scotch egg before...hmmm.....looks simple enough-- and you did a very good job of showing how it's prepared. I'll have to give this a try at some point. It really only takes 4-5 minutes for the sausage to be cooked enough? hmm....

    thanks for the vid.
