Not to mention this brushing solo is simply incredible for its time -> 0:22 - 0:32 this part is easily the most original and fresh idea of this whole video, just amazing no one who actually witnesses this can't say hes the greatest drummer of the last fucking generations.
Everyone who posted here has no idea what they're talking about the "guy dusting off the snare" is probably the most influencal drummer of all time, he revolutionized how drums were seen as a tool and made it a moving symphony of beauty, with or without a full set, not to mention his outstanding abilities at every technique and styles of drum patterns, which he could come up with thousands. He basically brought drumming to a whole new level and opened different styles by extending jazz genre.
Just shows you dont need a whole kit to be awesome that you should be able to make one drum sounds like a whole set. he has more dynamics with those two brushes and a snare than most people could ever wish to have.
Could someone explain the video? Obviously the drummers on this page admire the vid, and those of us who don't drum don't get it. I take it Max Roach is the master of brush work?
