  • @Luwinkle, guitars that are made well and do their job are available for vastly less money than these $2500 boutique guitars with the fancy "everything else". And if only playability mattered and not aesthetics, everybody would be playing something along the lines of Steinberger headless guitars. I personally appreciate something as flashy as metallic paint and lots of chrome. This guitar is analogous to a tricked out '32 Ford hot rod with the wheels painted with dark brown flat paint.

  • @teerexness Bottom line is who cares what it looks like as long as it's made well and does its job?

  • @Luwinkle, don't you think describing the virtues of a simple design over a flashy one, on a guitar with metal-flake paint and a chrome pickguard is a little odd? And how is quality conveyed by using little dot fret inlays? I'm only critical of this because I think the guitars, otherwise, look really outstanding. But I'm sitting here watching the light gleaming on my ESP Eclipse and Jackson Soloists' inky ebony fingerboards and big pearl inlays and I just love that look.

  • @teerexness They're pearloid dots at least. And I rather them be of simple design and high quality over a bunch of flashy things.

  • @DarkStageFilms I think your car analogy is a bit off. The Mercedes is a Mercedes, racing stripes or not. Like a Les Paul Custom who's price is similar to the Duesenberg, the Mercedes is an established legend. And the Les Paul Custom has the appointments Gibson (and many others in this price range) feels are appropriate for a premium electric guitar. Dots aren't just minimalist cool, they actually ARE cheap. And the body paint on these guitars argues against "understated" as the goal.

  • @teerexness sometimes simple is better haha. Would you want a 90K Luxurious Mercedes decked out in racing stripes, flames, and other paraphernalia, or would you want a nice clean simple look to it.

  • For the price, Duesenbergs should have something besides cheap little dot fret markers on the fingerboard in my opinion. One of my pet peeves I guess. Rosewood and dots = cheap.

  • The outlaw is muddier sounding. Maybe it is that tolex top?

  • Ahhh lead me to the cross!!!!

  • Everything he played was hillsong! Lol... Its funny How we see a Duesenberg and we automatically relate it to Hilsong! Pretty koo... at least to me.
