definitely not the same car... Not only is the acceleration better, but so is the handling. My 09 outhandles any 08 that I have driven. The changes arent as noticeable when the car is a DD, but once you hit the track and start pushing it, the changes become fairly evident.

I have noticed a big difference in ride quality on the street though. My 09 is much more refined than the 08 is. IMHO

@nd4spd325 i think the difference between the 08 and 09's is that the 09 stepped up to a vf52 turbo. you can bolt the vf52 right into your intercooler just like on the 08 wrx..same goes for 05+ legacy gt. a catless stage 2 with a clutch and im willing to bet the 09 puts down over 280 hp and well over 300 tq with a vf52 RELIABLY

I really wish i got an 09 WRX... but my 08 was cheaper. maybe someday ill upgrade the turbo.. Id like to get an STI.. but i dont autocross or anything.. so i dont know if it will really be worth it.. My wrx is a daily driver... Fun as shit and i put close to 600 miles a week on it.. thanks to work.

Good to know, I just bought one on a whim and really didn't do much homework. My Celica GT-S Turbo was wreaked last monday was an illegal Mexican immigrant tried to turn left on red and plowed head first into going 45 while we had just gotten the green and I was only going about 10. But I work at a Subaru dealership here in Cincinnati and we got an 09 in, black, with only 15k on it so I felt compelled to buy it. The previous owner was a non-smoking officer of the law and kept the car immaculate.

If you go to the Cobb website and check their dyno database you will see that the 2009 WRX and the 2009 STis put down about the same numbers @ the wheels all this on the same dyno. i would guess that the WRX is underrated from factory.
