I'm a roman catholic and what you are saying is all to familiar to me. The church is asking my family for more money, basically demanding it and they seem to spend it, in many seemingly good ways, for the community, but I don't know everything they are doing with it. I hope my instinct is wrong.

I am going through the same thing a new church that I am attending Analyzes how much is given they are trying to raise 6.4 million so they can open more church's here in Seattle Wa and from coast to coast all this money can purchase land to build homes for the homeless, but does the church care Hell NO! they puchase luxury homes for them selves. I used to drive down town Seattle and see all of the HOMELESS people sleeping in tents under the fwy's it is a very sad sight

Giving money to the churches only makes them richer not the poor with noo food. The churches could of ended starvation a long time ago!! The church is only for non believers and not for the people.

You are quite correct my friend - The origin of tiths was for the levictical tribe of Israel, they were the pasters of the nation and they were landless and had no flocks. Read the OT for more info'

The way I look at it, is like this, Jesus Christ is the vine, we are the branches. The Father is the husbandman, and cuts off every branch that does not bear fruit. This applies to denominations, we can look at them as branches on the vine, and their members as branches on their particular branch. Our Father in heaven will pick the fruit off of each branch and if it is wild fruit, or rotten fruit, he cuts it off. This applies to individuals as well as entire denominations. (Mat 12:33)
