Inspiration in Action features UNV volunteers enhancing disaster preparedness in India and providing electoral support in Timor Leste. The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is inspired by the conviction that volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development and by the idea that everyone can contribute their time and energy towards peace and development. Volunteerism contributes to a more cohesive society by building trust and reciprocity within and between communities. It is a powerful force that enables everyone, including marginalized and disadvantaged people, to contribute to peace and development, on-site and online, all around the world. UNV volunteers make distinctive contributions in pursuit of human development, with a particular focus on helping countries in transition or crisis.
