I had a similar experience once when the VG rope broke and the Xbar got stopped by the retainer cable. I think I looked around just like you... then I felt the VG rope and found it was completely slack...

"Pop" goes the shackle. Glad it happened where you had plenty of leeway and not while scratching in some ravine.
