Rurouni Kenshin Last OVA Deleted Scenes with English Sub-titles

It took a while to try to translate the original Portugese sub-titles and Nipponggo audio into an english sub-title. Granted that I dont speak either.

In the last OVA, this fits in between when Kauro fell ill waiting for Kenshin at the dock, waiting for him to return from China... and Yahiko's visit to the ill Kauro lying on the floor remembering the good old days together.

The deleted scene starts with the last apperance of Saito in kenshin's life. Talking to Kauro, he finally realizes that his fight with kenshin wouldn't be the same as during the bakumatsu, or even much later before they went on their shishio trip to kyoto. He finally accepts that Kenshin is a different person now, and not the killer he once knew. He walks away with a slight hint of disappointment on his shoulders that he's association with Kenshin finally ends.

The next scene show the night Kauro proposes to Kenshin (lucky guy..hehehe) and how at the start of being a rurouni, the results of his being a battousai traumatized him deeply, pushing him more to be a wanderer. At this point, Kauro askes kenshin to be part of her family.

Suceeding scenes show Kenshin and Kaurou's Wedding, life as newly weds, the birth and early years of Kenjji, their son, then the flashback ends with Kauro, ill in bed, talking to Yahiko who visited her.

No infringement intended. Just a fan of an Anime and Anime Ova I had watched and appreciated over 8 years ago...

  • THIS SHOULD'VE BEEN THE ENDING. Even at all caps, it's still an understatement.

  • Just my own thought on the whole TomoeKenshinKaoru subject:

Kenshin loved Tomoe, yes. She saved him in a way, yes. But she died. And Kenshin chose to live on after she passed away, looking for a way that he could atone for his sins. He found it in protecting Kaoru, Sanosuke, Yahiko, Megumi and everyone else around him. He vowed to live by the sword to protect everyone that he could. THAT was his salvation - and Kaoru helped him to recognize it. So... give Kaoru SOME credit, would ya? XD

Technically though, that salvation was laid out in the end of Trust and Betrayal. I think most of the Tomoe vs Kaoru sh*t comes from a personal preference for one or the other. Personally I think love is tested and proven in tragedy. (Similar to friendship) His love with Tomoe was more tragic, therefore IMO had a stronger proven love. Even 10 years after her death, he still remembers his sheath and she and her former love are always with him on his cheek.

  • @99DaNtEmAN23 Though, continiuing on what I just said, this ending in the deleted scenes would have probably satisfied me as it makes sense to Kenshin's fate as Hiko stated, along with Watsuki's happy ending :)

  • @99DaNtEmAN23 Funny thing to say, since Watsuki himself officially stated the last OVA to be non-canonical/not part of the real story. As your opinion, I can understand what you mean and I respect that, but imo the director of this OVA did4t respect W. idea of a good ending, even if you state that not all fariy tales ends happily. It's true indeed, but if W. wanted a happy ending, it had to be that way, no turning around... Yah, anyway I do not consider this part of the story

  • Watsuki stated this to be non-canonical, so officially it's not the real ending. Appart from the facts, I would as him indeed be dissapointed. Such disgrace for Kenshin... Only the fact he dies is plain stupid because W. stated it had to be a good ending. For me this is really not good. That what happens when you let another director work on a big title of which he knew none...

  • for me is this the real ending ^^

  • I am ssssooooooooooooooooooo whachin this movie!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Chillsta2 It's the anime Rurouni Kenshin and this clip was from one of the OVAS,the manga with the same name has adifferent ending and I recommend you to look at both of them

  • @killingspeerx Guess the director wanted to add unnecessary drama. The manga is just so superior to this in many ways. The OVA would have been fantastic if it followed the manga more clearly.

Especially with the beautiful art style. But no, they had to go this route. :/
