@zelcibot It's unfortunate that the majority of people don't respect the bass players. the bass is the backbone of much music., You don't notice it when it's there most of the time, but you sure as hell would notice if it were gone. Listen to actual good music and the bass is much more prominant and hard to miss. Listen to progressive rock, listen to funk. The bass will often times make your asshole much too loose.
"Yours is no disgrace" by Yes is a wonderful example.
