1: Stogie heard in the streets that Ace owes Tony the missing money. And when Ace got arrested.. Stogie bails him out, only to get him killed.

Basically what happened is that while you were in jail, the time the Mob Boss gave you to find his money went up. So his hitman came to the jailhouse and bailed you out, only to kill you shortly afterwards.
