What can I say, I Love Sunflowers. I think they are one of my favorite magestic flowering towers. Not only are they prolific, I really want to thank all the squirrels for planting these monsters. You'll have to see some of our sunflower photos that help complete this video blog.

  • Thank you for the three lovely comments. Glad you enjoyed videos and are starting to plant and plan for next summer.Would love to see pix. Hope your sunflowers spread happily and your salsa garden provides lots of yummy eating. We agree, you can never have too much salsa! Look forward to growing reports. L&R

  • I usually chop off the heads and stomp them face down into the dirt where I hope they will grow the following year. If they are something really special, like these, I pick them so the birds and the squirrels do get to them and eat them all up. About this time of year I then sprinkle them around and kick some soil over them. Always seem to come up in places I didn’t expect, so I must have help from thecritters who also love them. Tried saving and eating them, too much work.

  • Thanks, Lark. That's my husband's work. He loves it and it shows. These sunflowers have just flourised this year and the birds are loving them almost as much as I.

PS i can send you a pic of it if you like =)

  • Wow -- some of those sunflowers (and their leaves) are unreal, Lynn! I had some freakishly tall zinnias this summer (a few as tall as me at 5'7"). Never have seen any sunflowers like this though. Do you let them dry out and then keep the seeds? Sunflowers are so cheerful!

  • Beautiful photography!
