@EpoBot he has respect in the form of million of dollars made from sub-par movies like this and avatar!

Cameron brings his characters to life so well, he makes you all feel like you know what's going to happen so well, and then, you shit on him by placing this masterpiece so fucking low on this list. Shame on you, AFI.

Oh CONE ON!!! How is this not in the top 10, or at least top 30?!!
-
Titanic is still my #1 favorite movie to this very day.

Cameron alone was nominated for 3 Oscars that year. Best Picture (producer), Best Director, and Best Editing. He won all three. The film itself tied records set by Ben-Hur and All About Eve. Do you really think the Academy was gonna allow Cameron to also get the Best Original Screenplay nomination and exceed either of those previously set records??
I hate repeating myself, but Cameron was nominated for Best Screenplay at the WGA and the Golden Globes for Titanic.

@LukeLovesRose well maybe you should keep your fucking opinion to youself, you say i ts a great movie, it gives me the right to say its a shitty. unless your a baby who thinks your the only important person with a opinoin. but it has a shit screenplay proof 1- a movie that won 11 academy awards doesn't even get a script nomination..... hmm seems pretty obvious to everyon else that it was a shitty script.

LOL. Your opinion. You keep it to yourself next time, because I'm really sick of hearing your trolling. Jesus. You act like Titanic and the fan-base is a personal attack on you. LOL. Get over yourself.

@LukeLovesRose dude i dont care wat it was nominated for i know a cheesy script when i see it. and titanic was a cheesy FUCKING SCRIPT no doubts or questions in my mind,.
and also Kate and Leo do make you fall in love with the characters and the couple. Even if the dialogue wasn't shakespeare they made you root for the characters and love them together. We haven't had an iconic couple like this with that kind of connection to an audience since. I mean take Atonement, good story better written than Titanic probably, but the couple in it are nowhere near as compelling or connect to an audience the way Kate and Leo did as Jack and Rose.

Great movie. Those who call it bad usually hate everything that is popular. But i say it works damn well, as do all James Cameron movies. Over time, he will get his respect.
