This is a video of the Rye Playland carousel in motion. I took this video on September 10, 2011. The carousel is a c.1915 4 row built by W.F. Mangels with horse carved by Charles Carmel in the Coney Island style. There are a total of 66 horses (48 jumpers/18 stationary) and 3 chariots. The carousel was originally at Savin Rock Park. It was brought to Rye Playland where it first operated in 1929. Sorry, there is no music since the organ was not playing at the time.

  • Oh, boy, they let another organ go to pot...

  • @Wurlitzer157 The organ was actually playable that day except they were having some problem with it. They tried to play it and they let it play a few measures, but they had to shut it down. It was actually in decent enough tune.

  • What's "going to pot" mean? I'm talking about idioms.
