There was an album released in the early 70's that consisted of nothing but these 'whale sounds'...............songs of the humpback whale. Not sure if it is available nowadays, but the whole humpback album is very haunting.

I am positively transfixed by this song; had no idea that whalesong affected me so intensely. Am going to cover this next year on my debut album, I think.

This is one gorgeous song and of course Judy Collins does it better than anyone could. I love he lonely sounds of the whale and the theme of parting on the open sea.
