@john42t That's interesting! Christianity in the U.S. is associated with altruism, but it seems to be strongly in favor of PRIVATE altruism while being opposed to PUBLIC (or State) altruism. Leftism is associated with atheism as well as with State-enforced altruism. Virtually nobody advocates selfishness as natural, right, or virtuous.
You could almost argue that the religious right are libertarian altruists and the atheist left are authoritarian altruists.

Communism was not a religion. And yes Russians are largely christian. And no I do not recall ever hearing that the communists were all atheists. They wouldn't have been as easy to control if the had been.

U.S people are generally misled and are often uninterested in researching nor really learning something different than their own culture. instead everyone are looking for a small life, peaceful by nature. Plus TV shows which are the pinnacle of stupidity for all that I've seen so far. Basically a system where only banks make a profit and everyone else pretends to be cool or "rad", trying and dying hard to be a comedian.

you mentioned communism as not being religious. I don't know about that. It's new to me that communist are or were not religious or don't believe in a god. communism in theory is not logical, it doesn't work and when it was applied it was a disaster. communism is just another dictatorship. I've never seen or heard of a atheist communist before and could have sworn that most or all communist in Russia were Christians and still are.

@Iwannabeaphilosopher You're mistaken. Russian communism (along with its Marxist materialist origins) was explicitly atheistic.

@Iwannabeaphilosopher Christianity was (and still is) a major force in Russia, but generally Christians sided with the crown during the communist overthrow of the monarchy.
