If you have been interested in the CH-640 and tried to find more info on it, you may have discovered that there isn't much out there. AMD/Zenair hasn't really been pushing the CH-640 like they have the CH-601 and CH-701 kits.
At the time of this writing, there are only 4 flying CH-640 that I know of in the US, less than 100 plans sold, and only one build log online.
I drove to AMD in Eastman, Georgia in January, 2008. This is one of the few planes I test flew while on R&R from Iraq.
After more calculating I really find it being difficult to complete the CH-640 for less than $100,000, let alone $80,000. I suppose if you went with no quickbuild options, found a cheap used engine on trade-a-plane, lived without paint, bare bones avionics, and cheap interior, you might be able to keep it under $80,000, ...or even $70,000.
Other planes I test flew were the Velocity and Jabiru. Video reviews coming someday... maybe
With fuel prices going the way they are I have decided that a two-place in the way to go.
1 1/2" of ice on the wings and it does not care huh. Wow. You are definitely braver than me.

thanks for doing the vid! It's good to see the 640. I've thought about building it but it didn't have baggage. I hear the new version does...wonder if it has enough negative Gs to withstand a BRS parachute on the new one? That'd be great! Good video! thanks
