  • @Warkiam There's actually an article written about this in Sifu Hawkins Cheung's website. Just google Hawkins Cheung, and you will find it easily enough. Be warned though,

the man, being a friend of Bruce Lee, doesn't suck up to him. Honesty in martial arts is what is missing these days.

  • @Warkiam

[CONT] Bruce's first deviance with the Wing Chun system was his Jun-Fan kung fu system. Jun Fun (at least back then, the meaning has changed since now) can be described as a classical system, while JKD can not. In any case, Ip Man's refusal of both being filmed and in teaching Bruce more movements in the dummy section, caused Bruce to change the WC system to better suit his needs. They still have a level of respect for eachother.

  • @shan00r This might be long. Bruce Lee was rejected by Grandmaster Ip Man when he requested the latter to take part in filming the 116 wooden dummy form for his film career. This, and the fact that BL was struggling with the long bridge method of WC when fighting western boxers, spurred him to advance upon the "1/2 beat method" of WC. "Jeet Kune" actually started out as the expression of the "Pak & Punch" drill...An expression of the Bruce's philosophy on interception and dominance. [CONT]

  • @foxjourney....... rejected by GM ....????

This is the first time I acrooss this info...Can you please elaborate on this.

  • @foxjourney

I see more fencing boxing and savate in Lee's art tha wc but JKD buy the way isnt even a style!

  • this wing chun is the top of the line,so so real..thank you for this vid..peace

  • @frostbite1973 wing chun is actually the basic of jeet kune do. After bruce lee was rejected by grandmaster Ip man he devised his own style, but the basic still revolves around wing chun. bruce lee never learned all the techniques of GM ip man.

  • Nice sound track. Sounds like pink floyd...

  • ip man and leung's interpretations are authentic. its there interpretation just like this is theirs. What an ignorant statement. These book masters think they know it all after reading a few pages in a book. I have been doing martial arts for over 15 years. I have used kung fu in competitions and fights. it isn't about lineages or black belt sashes. True martial arts has died because of such non sense from people without understanding!

  • even ip man's students, or even wong shun leung's students have slight differences of their interpretations of the wing chun forms. that explains the difference in this particular chum kiu interpretation. of course, it is clear that this is a non-ip man lineage of wing chun. this is what they call "authentic" in the olden days as against the "non-authentic" wing chun of ip man, leung bik, etc..
