Hideki Irabu was the best pitcher on the Yankees for 2 months during their famous 1998 season. He actually had a good career, as a star pitcher and strikeout king for the Marines in Japan for a few years and then as a starter for some great yankees teams where he won 2 World Series rings, before going back to Japan helping the Hanshin Tigers win their first pennant since 1985. He came back to baseball after a 5 year retirement and went 5-3 in 10 starts for the Long Beach Armada. RIP

Hideki Matsui consistently had over 100 RBI as a NY Yankees player. He was also the 2009 World Series MVP with his clutch home runs against the Phillies. Due to his knee injury that limited him as a designated hitter, the Yankees chose not to sign him for 2010. However, Matsui will always be a favorite of NY Yankees fans. Don't be surprised if Matsui gets a standing ovation on his first return to Yankee Stadium.

Pitcher Hideki Irabu recently retired, according to the Japan Times.
