I can play those! I learned in High School, we were the only school within a few hundred miles to have a Steel Drum Band. :)

A part from 1:40 to the end of the video reminds me of Beethoven's "Fur Elise".

That must be pretty hard to play but most of the time he seems to be basically making random sounds.

i don't know if you found out yet. but there is indentation in the steel drum where you hit with these special mallets

I think its like a large bowl, and in that large bowl there are different sizes/depths of panels within it that make different sounds. Along with the weed hallucinations, jamaicans know exactly which panels to hit, cos they light up.
