@Equinegurl96 if your horse is afraid of the ball, all you need to do is desensitize him to the ball and other strange things such as this. soon he will see it less as something scary, and more as something interesting and maybe even fun
@BeatlesFan8091 if she is so afraid of everything, then you need to start slowly desensitizing her. first to the simplest things, and move on to more strange complicated things. it takes patience, but in the end you will have a horse that is not afraid, but more interested in odd things
@SpottyPony breed has nothing to do with it. some horses are interested in toys, some aren't. your horse is more then likely right-brained, which means they are not interested in simple things at that. a left-brained horse will be extremely interested and will constantly want to touch and push it around. your horse also may not associate it with something to play with, so show him how much fun it is by playing with it yourself. and showing it to his mouth, and rubbing it on him
@macaronistar you need to desensitize the ball to the horse before just expecting her to play with it. if you don't know how to desensitize something to a horse, first introduce it and let it sniff/lick/bite at it, while constantly rubbing her withers and rewarding her for touching the ball. then carefully push it toward her and rub it against her. if she runs. go back to having her touch it and repeat. always reward
i got a ball like that for my horse. She went near it without knowing it was there, and once she sniffed it, she ran away like it was going to eat her. and then her pasture mate was playing with it and nudged it towards her. it hit her and she flipped out again. It was funny yet sad, so i took it out when she was in the ring and just played with my other horse.
Great game! I got 1 to share with you. But Cissy cheats sometimes. Thanks for sharing!
